Summary

  • We collect account information (like email) and the content you provide (hypotheses, scenario graphs, and messages) to operate CausalTree.
  • We use third-party providers for infrastructure and payments (e.g., hosting, email, analytics, and Stripe for billing).
  • If you analyze a shared/public scenario (e.g., market-linked templates), interactive edits may run in preview mode and may not be saved.

Who we are

“CausalTree” (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a scenario analysis product that builds and runs constrained Bayesian networks to estimate outcome probabilities.

Information we collect

Account data

Email address and authentication data (including OAuth identifiers if you sign in with Google).

Scenario data

Hypotheses/prompts, generated graphs, node/edge parameters, observations, and scenario-related messages you create while using the product.

Usage & device data

Basic logs and diagnostic data (e.g., timestamps, pages visited, and request metadata) for security, abuse prevention, and reliability.

Analytics

If enabled, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage (for example, which pages are visited and which features are used). We intend not to send user-provided free-text (like hypotheses) to analytics.

Billing data

If you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing-related information (such as customer and subscription status) but do not receive your full payment card details.

How we use information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
  • Generate and validate scenario graphs, run inference, and present results.
  • Enforce plan limits and product constraints server-side.
  • Process subscriptions and manage account access.
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, security incidents, and fraud.

How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers (hosting, databases, email, analytics, and payments) that process data on our behalf.
  • Model providers (e.g., AWS Bedrock) to generate and refine graphs when you request analysis. Prompts and scenario context may be sent to the provider for processing.
  • Legal and safety when required to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect users and the service.

Retention

We retain account and scenario data for as long as needed to provide the service and comply with legal obligations. Some shared/public scenarios may be reused across users; interactive changes to shared scenarios may not be saved and can reset. You can delete scenarios in the product (where available) and request account deletion.

Your choices

  • You can request access, correction, or deletion of your account data.
  • You can limit analytics by disabling cookies in your browser or using browser-level tracking protections (note: this may reduce functionality).
